There could be higher charges by unauthorized money exchanges too. ATMs are widely available, but charge Rs. 200–300 per withdrawal and have daily limits of Rs. 80,000 – 100,000. Visa and MasterCard are commonly accepted, but always best to carry some cash - especially when visiting rural areas, where local vendors prefer it.
